Deep Agrawal: Starting a New Position as VP & Head of Payments at PhonePe
Deep Agrawal has recently been appointed as the Vice President & Head of Payments at PhonePe, where he will be instrumental in driving the company’s payment solutions and strategic initiatives. With nearly six years of experience in various leadership roles at PhonePe, Deep is well-equipped to lead the organization’s efforts in business development, partnerships, and growth strategies within the payments landscape.
In his previous role as Director & Head of Payments and Account Aggregator, Deep successfully managed operations across multiple payment platforms, including Unified Payments Interface (UPI), credit and debit cards, and prepaid gift cards. His experience in overseeing business operations for scale, coupled with his expertise in regulatory relationships and policy advocacy, has positioned him as a leader in the digital payments sector. His tenure at PhonePe has been marked by a commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
Before joining PhonePe, Deep held significant roles at YES BANK, where he served as Executive Vice President of Digital Payments. There, he was pivotal in launching UPI and introducing cutting-edge payment solutions, significantly enhancing the bank’s market position. Deep’s contributions to digital payments extend to his earlier work at ICICI Bank, where he played a key role in migrating credit card systems and implementing customer segmentation strategies.
Deep’s academic background includes a foundational role in the Placement Committee at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, where he facilitated industry connections for students.
